Life on an ocean wave – the last sail

In September 2017 we decided as a family even though Dad was diagnosis was so difficult; that life was all about living well with dementia. It was also about making memories and this last day of sailing with Dad will forever be remembered as one of our best.

The weather was amazing and taking the boat sailing for the day was amazing. Watching Dad for what was the last time actually sailing was lovely, although we didn’t know then that it would be the last time.

However the trip home was interesting as this was just before he had his licence removed by the DVLA which can happen. That night, on the drive home, he took us on a 3 hour detour to get back. Another telling moment in our journey but in its own way a treasured memory.
